Biography: High Chief Peter Ojonugwa Ameh




High Chief Peter Ameh is a young, vibrant and dynamic National leader of impeccable quality. He is the National Chairman of the Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA) – one of the most successful political parties in the history of Nigeria.
High Chief Peter Ameh also served as the National Chairman of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) – the umbrella body representing all registered political parties operating under the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 2018 to 2020.
During his tenure at IPAC, High Chief Ameh worked closely with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other key stakeholders to moderate electioneering processes in Nigeria, and create a conducive electoral environment for the conduct of free, fair and credible elections in Nigeria – the mandate assigned to IPAC .
High Chief Peter Ameh was born into the family of Late Mathew Yakubu Ameh of Adum-Ogugu in Olamaboro local government area of Kogi State in the middleblelt region of Nigeria.
He started his early education at government primary school Shomolu, in Lagos State but his father, desirous for him to identify with and connect to his local root early, sent him to his ancestral village to live with his paternal grandmother. There he attended St. Theresa L.E.A. Primary school, Adum-Ogugu where he completed his first school leaving certificate.
High Chief Peter Ameh’s educational journey involved moving between his local community of Adum-Ogugu and Lagos State where his parents resided. He started his Secondary School education at Adum-Ogugu Community Secondary School but was again moved to Lagos to continue his secondary education at the very prestigious Igbobi College, Yaba. He was again relocated to Abuja from Lagos where he was moved from several schools including the Army Day Secondary School (ADSS). He eventually completed his Secondary School education at Seta International School, where he obtained his WAEC.
After his secondary education, he obtained a diploma in computer sciences from DCP Institute. He immediately started his first drinks distribution company called Saint -Peters Investment Company. The company recorded major success becoming one of the top four distributors for major drinks companies in and around the Federal Capital Territory – including the Nigerian bottling Company (owners of Coca-Cola), Guinness Nigeria Limited, and the Nigerian Breweries Plc.
High Chief Peter Ameh is the founder and Chairman of Metrix Computer Science and Information Technology Limited, Metrix Computer School, and Smoothcut Properties Ltd. He holds a Diploma in Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism, a BSc Economics from the University of Abuja, and Msc. Political Economy and Developmental Studies from the same University (iv).
Due to his interest in serving humanity, High Chief Peter Ameh joined the Nigerian politics as a democratic dispensation was on the verge of being ushered in in 1999. He joined the Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA), in 2006 and became a low ranking executive member of the party in the same year. He started out as Ward Secretary – a position he distinguished himself at. From there he rose through the ranks of the party achieving major feats including getting various appointments and awards.
At PPA, High Chief Peter Ameh served in the following capacities:
Ward Secretary – 2006
Ward Chairman – 2006
State Secretary – 2007
State Chairman – 2009 – 2010
National Organizing Secretary – 2010 – 2011
National Secretary 2011 – 2014
National Chairman – 2014 till date
In his current position as the National Chairman of the Party, High Chief Peter Ameh leads in his usual visionary, challenge driven and passion for humanity filled disposition. He is a natural and persuasive communicator recognized among colleagues for his keen ability to energize and inspire individuals to work towards achieving a common goal. High Chief Ameh is excellent at creating consensus amongst divergent groups. He is an Afro-optimist, a Pan-Nigerian, a Social activist, a Governance Policy & Development Expert. He repeatedly says he is determined to make a difference and that he believes strongly that there can be morality in Politics.
It is due to these distinctive qualities that High Chief Peter Ameh was elected four (4)times to lead the umbrella body of Political Parties in Nigeria, IPAC – twice as the Secretary General, then as the National Chairman and finally as the President of the prestigious organisation.
He also presented himself to contest the Presidency in 2019 as one of the youngest candidates for that year’s presidential election rounds.
High Chief Peter Ameh is also a philanthropist extraordinaire. He established the Peter Ameh Foundation (PAF) in xxxxx. A platform he uses to further his humanitarian efforts. He has done several medical outreach programmes and helped indigent students pursue and further their education nationwide. High Chief Ameh was appointed by former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR to serve as a board member of the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas in Bonny Island, Rivers State in 2014.
High Chief Peter Ameh has been honoured with various Chieftaincy titles in several communities. He has served in different capacities at various public and private bodies, and he belongs to several professional bodies including:

6. Fellow Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administrators of Nigeria
7. Specialist, Electoral Alternative Dispute Resolution (EADR)
8. Member of the two man code of conduct review committee of the Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) with INEC (2013)
9. Secretary, 7 Man Committee on restructuring of the Inter Party Advisory Council of (Nigeria) (2013)
10. Secretary 3 Man Committee on Political Parties and Civil Society Organizations Engagement Strategy Committee with DGD/UNDP (2013)

High Chief Peter Ameh is a gentle man who believes in the simplicity of life. He is happily married to Malison Ojonugwa Peter Ameh and they are blessed with kids.
