We will occupy Kogi Govt House if Bello declines offer to become President – Youth groups threaten

A coalition of youth groups have threatened to occupy Kogi Government house should Gov. Yahaya Bello declines their offer for him to run for office of the president come 2023.

The youths under the aegis of Governor Yahaya Bello to President Yahaya Bello (GYB2PYB) Youth Group, have also acquired a multi million naira edifice in Abuja to achieve their objective.

The edifice, located in Ibrahim Abacha Estate, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, is expected to serve as the group’s National Secretariat, is to mobilise support for the governor to become president in 2023

The Director General of the group Amb. Oladele John Nihi, a prominent youth activist, and former president National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), says the group will commence sensitising Nigerians, especially youths, toward wooing Bello into the 2023 presidential race

Nihi predicted that 2023 would be a youth revolution political year in Nigeria, hence the need to build early structures among youth groups, to network towards possible and inevitable takeover of leadership.

According to him, Nigeria has a population of more than 200 million people and about 75 per cent are youth, but that it was disheartening that less than 1 per cent of Nigerian youths are currently included, appointed or elected into leadership positions in the Country.

The Director General says’ the groups’ plan was to change the narrative come 2023

He said: “We decided to search for three qualities; a young person with capacity politically and financially, one who is already in the political system/power block and who has the track record of youth engagement and inclusion in governance, as well as appointments, requirements we found in Governor Bello.

“Bello is youthful, highly inclined, and a passion driven politician. Nigerian youths need him for a true transformation of our dear country.

“A focused and energetic product such as Governor Bello will make good impact, especially on youths and women inclusion in governance.

“To achieve this dream, we have selected coordinators across the 36 States and FCT, to drive this project to a successful destination come 2023.

“We are now fully set to take off and take over the nation.’’
